Cabinet Refinishing and Painting
When kitchen cabinets are properly prepared and a cabinet-specific paint color is applied, the results are guaranteed to be durable, washable, and long-lasting. At Cabinet Refinishing Denver, we apply paint either by spraying which provides a smooth, flawless appearance, or by brush, which is more traditional. The choice is purely aesthetic and a matter of personal preference.
Refinishing kitchen cabinets is typically done on location to minimize handling and logistics. However, removable elements – such as door and drawer fronts – can be taken off site if requested.
Hardware is best removed, stored, and reinstalled once the new paint finish has fully cured.
Most importantly, refinishing work should be done in dry rather than humid conditions. If the work area is air-conditioned, refinishing can be done anytime; if not, winter is the ideal time of year to schedule cabinetry work. Plan for your kitchen to be out of commission for several days as our crew will need time to properly clean and sand each element before applying a fresh coating.

Once you chose Cabinet Refinishing Denver, to refinish your kitchen cabinets, our expert refinishing team will come to your home and remove all the doors, drawer fronts, and any loose pieces that can be finished inside our state-of-the art spray booth. Those pieces are brought back to our facility and are stripped if necessary, sanded, and prepped. The pieces are then either primed or a stain is applied to them.
If they are a stained finish. A couple coats of stain will be applied until the desired color is achieved. Next, they are sprayed with a few coats of sealer, which locks in the stain. Then they are finished off with a few coats of lacquer, which provides a protective coating and gives the piece its sheen.
In between each of the coats, the door is hand-sanded to achieve that smooth factory finish. Once the loose pieces are finished, we will schedule a day to refinish the cabinet frames on site.
When we arrive on-site the entire kitchen is masked off with paper, tape, plastic and drop clothes, to avoid any overspray on surrounding areas. In addition to this, we put ventilation fans in the windows and any areas leading outside to remove any odor. The frames of the cabinets are then stripped, sanded, stained, and finished with sealer and lacquer.
When refinishing cabinets, you have the option to add color changing tints to the finish to slightly change the color of the cabinets while maintaining the natural beauty of the wood. A color change like this can help warm up a kitchen and make it feel more like home. It can also remove the yellowing that cabinet finishes experience over time.
A few days later, once the frames are dried and cured, we will return to re-install the drawer fronts and doors. Your kitchen will be looking fantastic!
